King's Cup League 2008

The King's Cup league concluded at the beginning of August. Jávea Green Bowls Club had two teams competing in the league; the Green team headed by Brian Manser and the Blues by Ken Davey.

The Green team won the Northern King's Cup League in 2007 and went on to win the overall league in their matches against the winners from the south. As the defending champions they went into the competition with confidence, but by their last match knew that nothing less than a 12-3 victory would see them win the Northern league for the second year in a row.

Unfortunately, the Greens met a very strong El Cid team at their home ground in the last match and came away with just 6 points. This meant that the Jávea Green team finished 2^nd in the league, just 2 points behind this year's winners, BBC Gold. The Jávea blue team finished 4^th.

Well done to all those who took part. We look forward to renewing the battle in the King's Cup next year.
